Perspective Colors the View of the Tallinn Memorial Dispute

I ran across two sets of photos from Live Journal on the Tallinn Monument dispute over the Bronze Soldier (Set One - Set Two) that I had missed. One thing leads to another on the internet, so I soon found myself at Flicker to find more photos. The first item I searched for was "Tallinn Protests" and that showed some nice photos of people waving flowers behind a barricade. As a test, I decided to search for "Tallinn riots" which showed pictures of smashed store fronts and over turned cars.

Both sets of photos are accurate representations of the events there, but they are completely separate photo streams. If a person believes that there were riots and therefore searches on that term, he will see pictures of riots and not the flowers. If a person takes the perspective of protests, she will see peaceful demonstrations and none of the damage that later occurred. It is amazing how one's perspective can color the picture of the world they see...

I also found some photos of the Bronze Soldier's new location, previous protests by Estonians against the Soviet Monument, and Nashi's protests in Moscow outside the Estonian Embassy.
